Cheated

Have you ever been cheated? Years ago, I was invited to attend a home bible study with a couple of guys. I felt honored and privileged to be invited to this study and gladly welcomed the invitation. As the leader began to teach I noticed that he was emphasizing too much on works. Was this legalism? I thought. Oh yeah, it was definitely legalism and even me as a baby Christian knew that something was wrong. At the end of the study he began to tell me that I wasn't really a disciple of Jesus Christ. I said, Now wait a minute, I love Jesus Christ and I have freely received His salvation! Well, I walked away that night not feeling like I wasn't believer, but feeling like I had been cheated. Someone has said that, "legalism is a lie, that comes like a law, that leads to lifelessness." That is exactly what I witnessed that night. The Apostle Paul writing to the Colossian Church said, "Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility" Col 2:18 When someone tries to come at you and question your salvation. Remember, that you have been justified freely by His grace!!!

Amen Bobby.... I felt exactly like this earlier this year...and you know with who. I felt as if they tried to rob me of something that was never for them take away. God granted me salvation...and no one can strip me of this. No man or woman....just God himself. I know I am flawed in many aspects and never have I said I was sinless or without blemish...but its the fact that I am full of sin and imperfect that I need his perfect love. I really dislike "legalistic" christians"... and helps the "worldly" crowd to keep that view of us "christians" all lumped into one mold. When really if you look at all the prophets and leaders of the bible...they were cut from different folds of a cloth....not one of them were the same. God uses a persons heart to control the mind and body. He first enters your heart...before you know it. Your whole body has been captured. Doesn't mean you wont fail ....we fail everyday. Every thought is even sin....

Bob...thank you for this one....puts me at ease that God loves me regardless....and never kicks me out of his kingdom for falling short...but he cradles me even more for wanting his kingdom!
